Since its inception in 2002, Quest Atlantis has generated a strong following among students, educators and learning scientists. There have been dozens of articles, conference presentations, book chapters, as well as popular press coverage of the project. Participating teachers and students provide a steady supply of data to the ongoing project at Indiana University School of Education; enabling researchers and professors in the Learning Sciences arena to further evolve understanding of learning and cognition. Quest Atlantis provides a powerful new learning environment that combines academic concepts and meaningful play with disciplinary practices with the goal to create socially committed citizens. Our research focuses on understanding the oppotunities and challenges of using these new technologies in schools.
